In Argentina, Toba is most widely dispersed in eastern Formosa and Chaco Provinces, where most of the approximated 19,810 (2000 WCD) speakers of the language reside. There are also about 146 speakers of Toba in Bolivia and Paraguay where it is known as Qom, Qob, or Toba-Qom. This language is different from the Argentine Toba-Pilagá and the Paraguayan Toba Maskoy languages.
