Polaszenie, a process of mixing Kashubian with standard Polish language, which nowadays often occurs among the Kashubians. It causes loss of typical Kashubian features as far as phonetics, grammar and vocabulary are concerned. It is believed that the native language spoken in Polish Pomerania is Kashubian, and strongly influenced by Polish literary variety, whereas the purest Kashubian is spoken only by elderly people. Although this is a natural phenomenon, Kashubians seem to know well, when they use the mixture of their two mother tongues.[1]

The term is a reference to Polish word for Pole, "Polak".
